Summertime, and the livin' is easy!
Hard to believe it's been 6 months since four books launched...
My human is cranking out a new short story each week during the Writing Sprints she hosts with her word-loving pals. She's making great strides working on two new collections, one of which will purrr-obably publish next year. I hear there also might be another poetry collection in the works launching in time for Christmas 2023...something about Fun with F... I've heard her say. No idea what that could mean. I'll find out more, so stop back and I'll fill you in.
One cool, and caffeinated, cat...
... just sippin' on my iced coffee.
Hiya! Tate here, chillin' out with my refreshing (okay, it's my human's) venti iced coffee with a splash of, yum, cream (no classic; she's sweet enough). I know, I know, I'm not supposed to drink this stuff but when she's not lookin'...
When Mom's away, this cat will play!
As the most purrfect, highly energetic blogger I'm here to spill the tea (and I have) on the latest happenings at home and in the studio. June is an exciting month around here. Most important is it's the anniversary of me moving in with my human. She was kinda lonely for a few months without a furball like me living with her, then one of her barista pals at the coffee shop found me wandering the streets and decided I needed a special someone to care for me. I was a wild kid back then, but time's flown and that was thirteen years ago already! Yup, that pic is me as a young thing. Handsome devil, wasn't I? Admittedly, I'm a spoiled dude. She loves me and life's been good. Then again, are there ever enough treats for a cat. I digress.
Oh, yes...almost forget. June is also my human's birthday. In cat years I think she's like, almost 500 years old! Don't tell her I told you.
Celebrating 60!
I'm not in charge of inventory, but upon my purrr-rusal I see she's been restocking the shelves with more books. More books! I think she needs to have a sale, so I suggested that instead of getting presents this year (we've got enough stuff for me to play with and sit on, et cetera), we should be giving something. She really does listen to what I have to say and I see she has decided to host a brief sale on her four titles. There's the two children's picture books: Blue Elephant Slumber, about facing a fear that might or might not be real, and Jewels for Jeannie, a coming-of-age journey to find the special talents that make us each unique. Her poems, partnered with her photography, can be found in That Which I Once Loved, and even more of her pictures complement short essays in We See the Same Stars. All are available here on the "author" page. Go there quick. The sale is only 6 days long!
She not only writes her own work but has been assisting other writers to purrfectly punctuate and publish their works too. She really enjoys helping other writers by gently motivating them to get their work out into the world. Take a look at the "writer/editor" page which will be up and running soon, just in time to "book" (furry and funny, that's me!) an appointment on her fall calendar.
My human not only writes and edits, she also takes time away from playing with me when she sits at her art table to make greeting cards. I think I saw her getting ready to create a new line of cards, possibly featuring her photography. Ooops! Hope I didn't just let the cat out of the bag. Wait, what?
When summer swelters the last thing my human does is get out the warm and fuzzy yarn, but she got two big shipments of pure cotton, some of it's even organic, and she's been working on a new line of small and practical items you'll be excited to see when she adds these new things to the "maker" page in the fall. You're gonna think they're just the cat's pajamas. Cat's pajamas?! I don't have pajamas!
Still under construction, but she promises it'll be up and running soon, check out the "photographer" page, because if you buy one of the books with her images in it, you might fall in love with one of the pics so much so that you'd enjoy having it framed, or on a mug, a set of coasters, a calendar, or tote bag...she'd love to customize something just for you, or your loved one, or a friend, or me! Since she takes soooo many snaps of me, when is she writing a book about me?
If you like Mid-century dishware, hand-thrown pottery, vintage jewelry and beaded handbags from days gone by, stop in soon to check out the latest one-of-a-kind finds. There will be some timeless treasures and must-haves for the next collector who appreciates those sorts of things. Have a look at the "thrifter" page; the shoppe will be opening mid summer.
Good to the last drop.
The caffeine is wearing off and the need for a cat nap is kickin' in.Writing makes me sleepy... how does she do it? Don't forget to sign up for my human's newsletter...she's won't pester you. There's also a spot on the "about" page where you can reach out to her, or me, with any questions, or even some happy birthday wishes.
Toodles!
The Tater Man
